Alfred, my branch is rebased onto main at `3cae7d828`, which includes Hedy's three commits and the lock on `record_step`. It has four commits on top and no conflicts, and the tip is `4b1e7ab66`. I ran no tests. I checked that `serve`, `engine.locks`, `engine.bus`, `commands.dispatch`, `status_bar.handlers` and `engine.runtime` import cleanly. Nothing else of mine touches her file.
