**What:** a mode/command that runs the journal as a long-lived server listening for remote client connections on a machine of the user's choosing.

**Why:** hosting is the base every other piece of shared journal work sits on.

**Touches:** server entrypoint/process, network listener, startup configuration.

**Done when:** a user can start a server on any machine and it stays up accepting connections.

**Risk:** binding to the wrong interface/port exposes the server unintentionally; keep the default bind conservative.
