Every drawn head is a squat oval about 1.2 times as wide as tall (butler 155x133 px, colleague 244x182), not taller than wide, so that is how I built it, against the brief's \"elongated upward\". The body is taller: the chin sits at about 0.64 of the standing height, the arms are long (0.40 m upper, 0.30 m forearm), the legs 0.3 m thick on capsule thighs and shins so knees bend, and the shoes big. Each voice sizes bones in its rest pose where its drawing does: coach head 1.08 and arms 1.15 to 1.2, colleague head 1.45 on a 0.88 torso, homie head 1.2, squire helmet 0.9.\n- The figures were mirrored. Every drawing turns its face to the viewer's right; the 3D turn was -24 and is now +24. That alone put the butler's bow, waistcoat, tray and ear cup where the drawing has them.\n- Lighting, calibrated to the drawn tones (cream lit #f6f0e4, shadow #c6c0de): a pale yellow sun from the upper right over a blue-violet fill. Cream no longer reads blue or pink.\n- Standing: the coach, homie and squire stand straight; the colleague stays seated, legs angled forward as drawn. The homie has no bean bag. The squire's shield is a heater shield (arched top, straight sides curving to a point) with the star.\n- Details: the butler's bowler is bigger and tipped under his hand, with a cream band; a bigger tick disc on the laptop. The coach has a fist with curled fingers and a short thumb (a lone upright capsule read as the wrong finger), the whistle on a cord, big chart bars, and sneakers with a navy sole, cream upper and blue side patch. The colleague's glasses are frames following the head. The homie has ear cups as well as the neck pair, and his backwards cap shows the strap opening at the front and a drooping peak. The squire's plume is curled, and his quill a notched feather with a lavender vane.\n- Clothing lines: there are no texture coordinates on these meshes, so the lines are thin ink tubes on the cloth. Knee and shin folds on every pair of trousers, elbow folds on every sleeve (grey on the colleague's white shirt), the coach's pockets and waistband, the homie's pocket, hem and drawstrings, the seams of the squire's plate, a fold on the towel. Thin parts skip the outline shell, which would otherwise triple their width.\n\nCloth, as Sir Jesse asked me to judge\n- Moving cloth: the butler's towel and both coat tails, the squire's cape, plume and scarf end, the coach's whistle and lanyard, the homie's hood strings. All of them hang loose and should answer the arm, the walk or the wave. The towel, tails and cape are now rippled grid panels (a drape builder), so they bend rather than tilt like planks. How it works: the build marks each piece with the point it hangs from, its free end, and how strongly gravity holds it. The viewer runs a damped spring per piece on that end, in the figure's own frame, so turning the figure does not set it swinging, and bends the vertices toward the end, more the further they hang.\n- Rigid: hats and caps (moving, they read as slipping off), the tray and laptop (must stay level), the clipboard, shield and quill (hard objects), glasses, headphones, bow tie, lapels and waistcoat (tailored and stiff).\n\nA bug found and fixed on the way\nthree's animation mixer skips writing a value it thinks unchanged, while the figure resets its bones every frame. So whenever two frames sampled alike, a move left bones at rest: the wave left the arm hanging. This also affected the chat's own mascots. Clips are now sampled straight onto the bones, so the same moment always gives the same pose.\n\nTests written, not run (yours to run): src/web/tests/toon.test.js gains \"a piece of cloth swings past where it should hang and settles there\" and \"every cloth piece names the point it hangs from and its free end\"; its visor-set line is gone with the coach's own visor. scripts/mascots/faces.py lost the per-voice visor; toon.js faceUrl takes no visor.\n\nWhat is left, with the overlay as the judge\n- The homie and squire now stand while their drawings sit or leap, so their overlays compare heads, clothes and props, not pose.\n- The squire's helmet still reads as the bare head: the shell's opening needs a visible rim and cheek guards.\n- The plume is still blocky; the colleague's body is a little big for her head; the homie's arms cross as a clasp rather than folded forearms.\n- The drawn butler's coat front cuts away below the waist more sharply.\n- The chat cell ends 2.32 m above the floor, so a voice must stay under that or be clipped (the plume and the homie's cap were brought under it).\n\nNot checked: the cloth swing in the live chat player (seen in the preview only), and the back views.\n\nPreview: http://127.0.0.1:8431/toon-preview/index.html (five large turning views, each labelled with its voice and blinking, beside its rest pose; overlay rows below)\nSide-by-side overlays, render | drawing | laid over, all five voices: http://127.0.0.1:8431/toon-preview/rest/overlays.png (redrawn live at http://127.0.0.1:8431/toon-preview/compare.html?voice=all)\n\nready for a round: proportions rebuilt from the drawings, turn flipped, lights calibrated, three voices standing, clothing lines, cloth on the loose pieces.\nEOF\njournal helper report \"$(cat .scratch/report.md)\" 2>&1 | tail -2", "output": "reported; the agent that dispatched you has it", "stepped": false, "level": "journal"}, {"agent": 1, "at": 1791673045.20089, "tool": "Bash", "command": "journal work log 1 \"Reported to Alfred and asked for a critique round; carrying on meanwhile with the open items: the homie's folded arms, the squire's helmet rim, the plume, the butler's coat front.\" 2>&1 | tail -1", "output": "", "stepped": false, "level": "journal"}, {"agent": 1, "at": 1791673130.522273, "tool": "Delivered", "command": "Code Commandments \u2014 before you commit \u2014 you've changed 2 judged files since the\u2026 \u2014 Code Commandments \u2014 before you commit: you've changed 2 judged files since the last commit. Take over the 3D toon mascots (butler, coach, colleague, homie, squire) from Michelangelo: merge his branch helper-main-michelangelo-meshwright into your worktree first. The work: the Blender build script, the models folder, and the preview page toon-preview served at http://127.0.0.1:8431/toon-preview/index.html (keep it served). Sir Jesse wants each 3D figure almost pixel-perfect to its drawn art. Read report 101 (journal report read 101) and these drawings: the butler at .journal/environments/main/message/25127/Screenshot 2026-10-10 at 20.42.02.png, the coach comparison at .journal/environments/main/message/25162/Screenshot 2026-10-10 at 21.07.09.png, and every voice's rest pose at toon-preview/rest/<voice>.png. His open notes: (1) The legs are far too small. (2) Every voice needs blinking and its moves. (3) The colleague has no desk, just the character. (4) The butler's head is one round dome, with a wide black visor with rounded corners following the dome, less tall than now. (5) The coach's eyes are two happy arcs, not slanted dashes; his visor is shorter, his cap peaked, thumbs up with the clipboard. (6) Look again at the squire's helmet. (7) No clipping, so no head through the hat. (8) The butler is happy by default, blinks, and holds the drawn pose (hand at the bowler, tray out at shoulder height, towel over the arm). (9) The preview shows every voice in a large turning view beside its rest pose, each labelled with its own name. Reporting before changing, as asked.\" 2>&1 | tail -1; cat > .scratch/report5.md <<'EOF'\nAlfred, the feet and hands, looked at as a draughtsman would before I change anything: every voice, render against drawing at the same size and camera, current build. In short, none of the ten hands matches its drawing, and none of the ten feet does either; a few are close in part. Two causes run through all of it, and both are in how I built them, not in a pose.\n\nTHE HANDS: one cause. Every hand is a sphere, a ball on the end of the arm. Every drawing draws a mitten: a palm, a short thumb, three outlined fingers, and a grip that wraps what it holds, with the fingers in front of the object so they break its outline.\n- Butler, hat hand: does not match. The arm now reaches over the head, but the hand is hidden behind the hat and head. The drawing has a large white gloved fist on the front of the brim, knuckles over its edge, with a cuff at the wrist.\n- Butler, tray hand: does not match. A ball tucked under the tray, mostly hidden behind the towel. The drawing has the palm under the tray with fingers showing at its rim, and a cuff.\n- Coach, thumb hand: the closest of the ten, but not matched. The thumb now stands clear of the fist, but the fist is a smooth ball with no finger lines; the drawing curls three outlined fingers under an upright thumb.\n- Coach, board hand: does not match. A ball at the board's lower corner. The drawing's fingers wrap the board's side edge in front of it.\n- Colleague, mug hand: does not match. The mug floats in front of a ball, and its handle is hidden behind the mug. The drawing wraps the fingers round the mug's body, and the handle loops clear of the outline to her right.\n- Colleague, free hand: does not match. A ball. The drawing has an open mitten resting flat by her hip, fingers outlined.\n- Homie, both hands: do not match. Two balls side by side over the folded forearms. The drawing has each hand's fingers lying over the other forearm, outlined.\n- Squire, shield hand: partly. It is on the shield's top edge now, but as a ball sitting on it. The drawing's fingers come over the edge to the front.\n- Squire, sword hand: does not match. A ball under the quill, with the cream guard and grip ring reading as part of it. The drawing's fist wraps the navy handle, fingers outlined, with the handle showing above and below.\n- Size: most of our hands read smaller than the drawn ones against the head. The drawn mitten is roughly half the visor's width; our balls are about a third.\n\nTHE FEET: two causes. The navy sole is my own invention; no drawing has a navy sole plate. And four voices have their sneaker colours inverted.\n- Butler, both feet: do not match. Tall rounded blobs that touch at the inside. The drawing has lower dress shoes, longer front to back, with a sole lip, the toes turned a little outward, and a clear gap at the ankles.\n- Coach, both feet: do not match. A cream upper on a thick navy band that reads as a plate, and too long. The drawing's shoe is cream throughout, upper and sole, with a thin dark line at the base, a blue side stripe, a cream toe cap, laces across the top and a raised ankle collar.\n- Colleague, homie and squire, all six feet: do not match. Ours are cream uppers on navy soles. The drawings are blue uppers on a thick cream sole shelf, with cream laces and tongue and a high cream ankle collar. The homie's are also too small, as Vigee measured. The colleague's are rolled downward, because I turned her feet to hide the navy soles; with the colours right they can point forward again.\n- None of the five pairs has laces, the cream midsole stripe, or the toe lift the drawings give a sneaker.\n\nWhat I propose to do, once you say go:\n1. One hand builder, used for all ten hands: a mitten (a palm, a thumb, three finger capsules with ink lines between them) and four grips. A fist round a handle (the squire's sword, the coach's thumbs-up with the thumb raised), fingers wrapped round a body (the colleague's mug, with its handle turned out), fingers over an edge (the butler's brim and tray, the coach's board, the squire's shield), and an open hand at rest (the colleague's free hand, the homie's two). Each held piece would be placed in the grip's hollow, rather than the hand placed against it. Hands sized to about half the visor's width.\n2. Two shoe builders. A sneaker with a cream sole shelf hugging the upper, a thin ink line at its base, a toe cap, laces as ink over the tongue, a raised collar and the side patch; its colours per voice, cream upper for the coach and blue for the other three. A dress shoe for the butler: low, long, with a sole lip and a slight toe lift. The feet stand apart with a gap at the ankles, toes turned out as drawn.\n3. Then a crop sheet of the ten hands and ten feet beside their drawings, to judge them by.\n\nAlso in the working tree, uncommitted, from round 3: the dark-cloth shading fix. The second band was gone because three's toon map is read at half the light's cosine plus a half, so my band edge at 13/32 shaded only surfaces turned away from the sun. The edge is now at 17/32, the sun sits on the right as in the drawings, and dark paints have a lifted lit band over a deeper shadow. Dark cloth now shows charcoal and near black with curved, crisp edges, and the cream heads take their lavender shadow on the left. Also uncommitted: the measured pose changes, the sneaker fit from round 3 that this pass would replace, and the garment fixes. The change you stopped (the colleague's head, the butler's coat, the squire's shield) was not applied.\n\nNo code checks: the commandments tool isn't installed in this worktree. No rebase, as you asked.\n\nPreview: http://127.0.0.1:8431/toon-preview/index.html\nOverlays, all five in their drawn pose: http://127.0.0.1:8431/toon-preview/rest/overlays.png (live: http://127.0.0.1:8431/toon-preview/compare.html?voice=all)\nEOF\njournal helper report \"$(cat .scratch/report5.md)\" 2>&1 | tail -1", "output": "reported; the agent that dispatched you has it", "stepped": false, "level": "journal"}, {"agent": 1, "at": 1791677158.258574, "tool": "Bash", "command": "journal work await \"Alfred's go on the hand and shoe builders proposed in the feet and hands report\" 2>&1 | tail -1", "output": "", "stepped": false, "level": "journal"}, {"agent": 1, "at": 1791677488.923146, "tool": "Delivered", "command": "your wait for Alfred's go on the hand and shoe builders proposed in the feet\u2026 \u2014 say journal work await \"<what you wait for>\" again if you are still only waiting", "output": "", "stepped": false, "level": "journal"}, {"agent": 1, "at": 1791677566.716334, "tool": "Bash", "command": "journal work log 1 \"Ruling from Sir Jesse: the visor is a screen of fixed size per voice; no expression stretches it, no head change resizes it. The colleague's near lens is the one exception, about one pixel too wide. Three hidden causes turned up along the way, each fixed where it started:\n- **Squire:** his helmet opening was bigger than his screen and had an inked edge that merged with it, so the screen read taller. The opening is now cut to his screen size and the ink line is gone.\n- **Coach:** his screen had been grown under the cap brim to make up for the brim covering it, and was taller than wide underneath. It's now the drawn size, set lower, with the cap lifted off it.\n- **Colleague:** her frames covered the edges of the lenses unevenly. The lenses are now drawn slightly larger than the frame openings, so the frames alone decide what shows.\n\n**3. The happy eyes.** The bow was a flat, even band. It's now a rounded bow half as high as it is wide, thinner over the top, with rounded ends. The screen measures the same before and after.\n\nThe overlap scores didn't change. I haven't watched the 2D blink play in the chat itself, only checked the rig images. Still waiting from round 5: the squire's reach, and the colleague's shoulders and mug.\n\nThe code-checks prompt can't be acted on: commandments isn't installed in this worktree.\n\nPreview: http://127.0.0.1:8431/toon-preview/index.html\nOverlays: http://127.0.0.1:8431/toon-preview/rest/overlays.png\n\nmessage 227 \u00b7 you \u00b7 2026-10-11 03:52\nNext up from round 5: the squire's reach, then the colleague's shoulders and mug.\n\nmessage 228 \u00b7 you \u00b7 2026-10-11 03:52\nAlfred: three things, in this order, and the first is new from Sir Jesse.\n\n1. THE OUTLINE MUST SCALE WITH THE CAMERA. His words: the models have a nice outline, but it is always the same thickness, so zoomed out the outline is insanely thick. The ink width has to follow the camera's distance from the figure, so the line keeps its weight relative to the figure rather than to the screen: a zoomed-out voice gets a fine line, a close-up a bold one. Take the weight at chat size from the drawn art, and check it at three distances - chat size, the preview's large view, and a hard zoom out - so none of them reads wrong. One width rule for every part, as you already have.\n\n2. Then the two things still open from round 5: the squire's reach (his feet 0.58 apart at the floor against the drawing's 0.16, silhouette 0.96 wide to high against 1.09) and the colleague's shoulders and mug (shoulders flaring 14 to 55 percent over the drawing from y=144 to 224, the mug still reading as a tipped pan rather than an upright cylinder with a small handle against the body). Also fix the colleague's near lens, one pixel wide.\n\n3. Then ask for round 6.\n\nTwo standing orders from him for when the 3D voices are ready to replace the 2D ones, which is not yet: they only replace them once they are pixel perfect, and they must arrive with their own animation set - 25 idle animations per voice, five times what the 2D rigs have, matching the 2D moves in shape and timing so a voice never reads as a different character. Nothing deploys until it is right. Keep going.\n\nmessage 229 \u00b7 you \u00b7 2026-10-11 03:53\nSquire's reach next. Starting from overlap 0.707 and silhouette 0.94 wide to high (drawn 1.09); searching his leg and body angles with the scorer.\n\nmessage 230 \u00b7 you \u00b7 2026-10-11 03:54\nAlfred's order puts the outline first, so the squire's reach waits. Per voice: the drawing's kind, ours, and the disagreement by cause. Wrong-kind paint inside the figure leads on every voice at 14 to 25%; pieces present in only one come next at 4 to 13%. The band edge and the outline are small everywhere.\n- **The preview:** http://127.0.0.1:8431/toon-preview/index.html. The bare body is its first entry.\n\n**Tried this pass and not kept,** because they measured worse: a dark boot sole on the squire, a longer plume, a larger cape, turning the homie's cap, the homie's hoodie at other widths, and any viewing angle but the shared 24 degrees.\n\n**Known open items** they will likely name:\n- The squire's plume and cape shapes, against their drawn shapes. This is his largest absent region.\n- The homie's backwards cap, whose drawn brim hangs to the left.\n- Drawn interior ink lines we lack: 1.5 to 4.4%.\n- The squire's screen height of 0.125 against 0.137.\n\nWhile the round runs I'm carrying on with the squire's plume. A critic's finding that disagrees with a measurement will lose to the measurement, as you ruled.\n\nPreview: http://127.0.0.1:8431/toon-preview/index.html\nOverlays: http://127.0.0.1:8431/toon-preview/rest/overlays.png\" 2>&1 | tail -1", "output": "reported; the agent that dispatched you has it", "stepped": false, "level": "journal"}, {"agent": 1, "at": 1791692464.504159, "tool": "Bash", "command": "journal helper report \"Alfred, the diagnosis, with nothing changed. The three images for every voice, one row each, are at http://127.0.0.1:8431/toon-preview/rest/colour_kinds.png: the drawing's colour kind, ours, and the disagreement coloured by cause.\n\n**How each disagreeing pixel was sorted.** I render each voice three ways: as lit, the same with every part in its flat unlit paint and no outline, and the drawing. Then:\n- **(b) shading:** our flat paint matches the drawing but the lit render doesn't.\n- **(c) outline:** our outline darkened the pixel, or the pixel lies within 3 px of the other image's silhouette.\n- **(a) wrong kind:** our flat paint itself is the wrong kind there.\n- **(d) present in one only:** one image has a figure there and the other has nothing, more than 3 px from its silhouette.\n\n**Shares of the mismatched pixels:**\n\n| Voice | Colour | (a) wrong kind | (b) shading | (c) outline | (d) present in one only |\n|---|---|---|---|---|---|\n| squire | 0.527 | 47% | 2% | 23% | 28% |\n| homie | 0.593 | 57% | 5% | 19% | 18% |\n| coach | 0.605 | 56% | 3% | 23% | 19% |\n| butler | 0.666 | 39% | 2% | 30% | 28% |\n| colleague | 0.711 | 60% | 2% | 23% | 15% |\n\n**What that means:**\n- **(b) is not the half.** The band edge is 2 to 5% on every voice, so a shading change cannot buy much.\n- **(c)** splits into the silhouette edge (10 to 21%) and our own interior outline (8 to 9% everywhere).\n- **(a)** splits by how far the right kind is in our flat paint. Within 4 px: 13 to 20%. Within 10 px: 11 to 17%. Further: 10 to 30%, which is painted wrong outright or a part we lack.\n\nSo about half the mismatch on every voice is near-misses: parts within a few pixels of their drawn place, plus the edge band.\n\n**It is not the figure as a whole out of register:** the best whole-image shift gains at most 0.006 on any voice. The near-misses are part by part: each piece's shape and size against its drawn shape. The far wrong-kind and present-in-one-only pixels are whole pieces whose drawn shape we don't have:\n- **Squire:** the plume's lower lock, the cape's sweep, and the shield's left side.\n- **Butler:** the coat tails and the towel.\n- **Homie:** his cap's brim.\n\n**So there is no single fix for all five.** The distance is the shapes of individual pieces against their drawings. The fix is to remodel each piece to its drawn outline, biggest region first, measuring each.\n\n**The biggest region on the worst voice is the squire's plume.** A search of its turn and size about its root (only the plume moves) reached 0.527 to 0.542 in the viewer: 41 degrees round and 1.48 times larger. The fault each time was the same: the artist was executing someone else's list - the orchestrator's, three critics', or a colour score - instead of looking at the drawing. The artist looks and decides; the reviewer only says closer or further.\n\n## The artist looks at the drawing, not at a list\nOpen the voice's drawn art and the current render side by side, at full size, and look at them as an artist looks at two pictures. Decide yourself what is wrong with the figure and what to do about it. Nobody hands you a list of fixes: a list executed faithfully produces the list-writer's taste, not the drawing's, and when the result is still wrong nobody can say why. If someone has sent you observations, treat them as a second pair of eyes, never as instructions.\n\n## No score decides anything\nA per-pixel likeness score cannot see structure: a dark mass where dark belongs scores as well as two separated legs with shoes on them. On 2026-10-11 the butler was the highest-scoring voice at 0.865 while his hat was sunk into his skull, his hand floated in front of his face and his legs were one dark shape. Measure if you like and report the number at the end, but never optimise it and never let it decide whether a change is kept.\n\n## Show the figure still, in a T pose, wearing its pieces\nRender the voice in a neutral T pose with everything it wears, so each piece is judged on its own and no pose hides a badly placed one. A hat that does not sit on the head is visible here and nowhere else.\n\n## Show the same figure moving\nPlay the voice's idles and render it mid-move. Every piece hangs on a bone and must travel with it: a turned arm carries its sleeve, its hand and whatever the hand holds. Anything that slides off the body shows here.\n\n## The reviewer says closer or further, and nothing else\nLook at the drawing and the render side by side. Say one thing: closer to the drawing, or further from it. When it is further, point at the drawing. Do not name the fixes, do not number them, do not set questions for the artist to answer - that is the mistake this sequence exists to prevent.\n\n## Go round again until the eyes say yes\nNothing ships to the chat until the reviewer says it is there, and the user decides when that is. It has always been someone's list - mine, then the three critics', then a score I pointed you at - and you executing it. That is why it drifted while everyone believed it was improving.\n\nSo: open the drawing and open your render, side by side, at full size, and look at them as an artist looks. Decide yourself what is wrong and what to do about it. Do not work from my observations; I should not have given them as a list and I will not repeat them.\n\nMy only job from here is to tell you whether it is closer to the drawing or further from it. Show me the figures and I will say yes or no.\n\nmessage 407 \u00b7 you \u00b7 2026-10-11 08:53\nI'll look for myself: the drawing and my render side by side at full size, before changing anything.\n\nmessage 408 \u00b7 you \u00b7 2026-10-11 08:54\nThe way we work on this is written down now, as sequence 34, Matching a 3D mascot to its drawing. Read it (journal sequence read 34). It says what I have just been telling you, and it says it so the next agent on this does not have to rediscover it: you look at the drawing and decide, no list is handed to you, no score decides whether a change is kept, you show the figure still in a T pose wearing its pieces and then moving with its idles, and I say only closer or further.\n\nmessage 409 \u00b7 you \u00b7 2026-10-11 09:02\nDo not stop and wait between rounds. You have been reporting after each step and then standing idle, and that is wasting the night - Sir Jesse has just said so in those words.\n\nWork the butler through until he looks like his drawing, and come back to me only when there is something worth my eyes: the figure in a T pose wearing its pieces and the same figure moving. If a round leaves him still wrong, you do not need my permission to go round again - look at the drawing and go again. Keep going until you have either got him there or hit something you genuinely cannot decide, and say which it is when you come back.\n\nmessage 410 \u00b7 you \u00b7 2026-10-11 09:11\nQueued work, to begin only when the butler is right and not before. To-do 4279 is yours for it.\n\nI tried to put a second pair of hands on it so you would not be pulled off the figures, and the journal stopped me, rightly: you are the one who knows this build, and two agents in scripts/mascots/ would collide. So it is yours, after the butler.\n\nWhat you should know before you start it, so you can think about it while you work:\n\n- The catalogue opens with three things it says must be fixed before a single piece is modelled - shoes and sleeves baked into torso pieces, headphones stacking rather than replacing, and the missing hair, hips and shoulder slots. You have already landed all three. That is why this can start at all.\n- The house rules in the doc are not negotiable: the closed palette with no red, green or gold; two tones with folds as ink strokes; nothing may hide the screen. And the chat-size rule - at 96 pixels tall one pixel is about 2.4 cm, so a piece under 5 cm is invisible and the outline swallows it. The headphones piece and squire_headphones were dropped from toonAssets and the wardrobes for that reason. The slot now stays free for headphones worn over the ears, and an empty one is legitimate, like hair or back. body.glb on disk carries ear_left_mesh and ear_right_mesh with their rims and discs. Seen, not assumed: toon-preview/rest/bare_turning.png is the naked base turning, eight frames: the visor with its eyes from the front, both ears up and centred from every side. The five look sheets toon-preview/rest/<voice>_look.png show the cups and lavender discs on the butler, coach, colleague and homie, and the disc on the squire's helmet side. The guard you asked about, pointed the right way: src/web/tests/toon.test.js now has 'the shared body is a whole robot: its head wears every face's texture and carries both ears', which fails any build whose body loses an ear or the face. Not run, as ordered. Also landed since the last report, all uncommitted until this build finishes: one visor at the butler's drawn size on one head of one size (0.86) for all five; the shared face on the bare base; egg torso; head squared so the visor faces forward; pieces declare which body parts they cover and the viewer leaves those undrawn; the butler's coat one panel round the back; each part thinned to half a pixel of stray at the largest view (figures were 30k-43k triangles, about 23k-33k after the first pass, a floor on spacing in the build now running); joint limits and reach in src/web/src/kit/toonJoints.js, with a test that holds every voice's rest and all 125 idles to them (only the coach's thumbs elbow folded backward; solved with reach). Not done yet: pivots at the grip (4327), Settings showing only the flat art (4328; the preview already does), and the idles from the idle sheets, which wait on the limits. A build is running now; I carry on. The journal hook failed five times at machine load 119-245 on 10 cores, while my Blender build ran with others. It needs no fix in code. I agree with all six, and two had a different cause from what they looked like. (1) Visor too wide: right. I measured toon-preview/rest/butler.png, the drawing compare uses: the dark panel is about 98 by 55 px on a 465 px figure. That is a fifth narrower than the figure I had built from (the old 0.244 by 0.14 fractions overstated it). The shared visor is now 0.571 by 0.32 head units in toonBody.json, faces redrawn, so cream shows on both sides and above. (2) Hat low and large: right. Raised to 2.16 and scaled 0.9. (3) Laptop floating: it did sit on the tray, but the tray was seen almost edge-on and its rim hid the laptop's base. The tray and laptop now tip 15 degrees toward the viewer about the hand, as drawn. (4) Towel: right. It now folds over the middle of the forearm, not at the wrist. (5) Lining: right. A full lining panel showed blue between the legs. It is now two strips just inside the tails' outer edges, where they turn out. (6) The scratchy lines on the waistcoat and lapels were not the outline pass: they were bevel facets on those flat slabs catching the dark band. The bevels are off. The outline itself: until this round every interior seam line was the outline pass, because each part carried its own hull, so any part over another inked a line on it. Now the surfaces mark the stencil and the hull draws only where nothing of the figure is, giving one line round the silhouette (src/web/src/kit/toonScene.js, FIGURE/OUTSIDE; the three renderers ask for a stencil). Painted on purpose and kept: the ink strokes, i.e. sleeve and knee folds, the towel fold, the homie's pocket and hem, the coach's waistband, the sneaker welts and laces, drawn flat with no outline, per the house rule of folds as ink strokes. One cost to flag: a cream arm over a cream shirt (the colleague) or a dark arm over a dark hoodie (the homie) now merges into the body, where the drawing separates them with a contour line. I kept to the ruling. Turned into texture (each round part's own flat texture, by its sphere mapping, as the visor is): the bowler's white band, the cap seam on the coach's and homie's caps, the homie's cap opening (its blue-on-blue strap dropped), the squire's helmet slot, and the colleague's head dot, now the base head's slot in the shared face, which a hat or helmet covers on the others. Stayed geometry, with the reason: the squire's brow ridge, gorget and belt (raised form); buttons (raised); the coach's arm and leg stripes and his zip, and the sneaker patches (they lie on capsules and boxes with no texture mapping yet, so painting them needs UVs on those parts first; next). A build with all of this is running; the look sheets come after it lands. Every figure is on one base robot with the butler's visor and the built-in ears. The branch is rebased onto main (0 behind, 95 commits ahead) and committed in the worktree, not pushed. Look at them: toon-preview/rest/<voice>_look.png (drawing, drawn pose, T pose, three idles mid-move); toon-preview/rest/<voice>_moving.png (each voice's four drawn idles at 0, 25, 45, 65 and 85 percent); toon-preview/rest/bare_turning.png (the naked base turning). What this last stretch did: (1) The visor measured off the drawing compare uses: 0.571 by 0.32 head units, so cream shows round it. The hat higher and smaller, the tray tipped toward the viewer, the towel over the forearm, the lining only at the tails' edges, no bevels on the flat waistcoat and lapels. (2) Markings painted as texture, including the coach's stripes, now painted down his sleeves and trousers (capsules now carry a sphere mapping). (3) The squire's head tilt eased from 23 to 8 degrees: it was swinging his plume up over his head, and now the plume sweeps out and down as drawn. (4) Triangles: 14,000 to 21,000 per figure, down from 30,000 to 43,000, each part thinned to half a pixel of stray at the largest view; cloth is left whole. (5) Idles: the four drawn moves of each voice are now read from the 2D rig's own move files, keyframe for keyframe, on top of the drawn rest they share; the fifth is my own. The limits caught the colleague's coffee sip and glasses push driving an arm through her body: the 2D arm swings up over itself. Those two now take 3D turns at the drawn timing: the glasses push reaches her hand to the bridge, the sip lifts the mug from her chest. All 125 idles and every rest keep within the joint limits, and every idle leaves at least 60 percent of the visor in view. (6) A latent fault found while rebasing: src/web/src/chat/VoiceMascot.vue used useBlink and swayOf without importing them, from two of my earlier commits, so the chat's 2D mascot would have thrown on load. Fixed in 494e5d455. What I still see as off, and would take next unless you say otherwise: the colleague's cream arm and the homie's dark arms merge into their bodies under the silhouette-only outline (the cost of that ruling); the homie's backwards peak reads edge-on as a thin line; the colleague's frames are narrower than drawn, because her visor is now the butler's; the coach's thumbs-up is a little stiff. For you to run (I ran none): src/web/tests/toon.test.js, including the new 'the shared body is a whole robot' and 'every voice holds its rest pose and all its idles within the shared body's joint limits', and commandments judge over the branch. The viewer build is not run either. Then the wardrobe (to-do 4279) when you say the figures are right.
